hy Not? I'm not knowledgable about current implementations, but I am aware that some vehicles have started down this path. Perhaps this could become an official priority for all new vehicles, and perhaps as a retrofit for existing vehicles.
Imagine...
You have a visual display that informs you of other cars near you.
You can tell where they are, how fast they're travelling, and how close they are.
Your vehicle will automatically adjust in the event of an impending collision.
Your vehicle will apply brakes if a pedestrian or non-motorized vehicle crosses your path.
Your vehicle will alert you to nearby emergency vehicles and recommended course of action.
Road construction or accident alerts will be sent to your vehicle as you near the location.
Public accident reports and photos will be available online, for those of us that must look.
Automatic speed maximum controls for certain zones, such as community and school zones.
Information of local events, attractions, and businesses will also be broadcast as you enter the area, for you to view or ignore.
Car to Car communications...indicating intent for advance warning, etc...probably have to be pre-canned messages...
Each vehicle broadcasts an identification code, so that local jurisdictions will know who you are...and whether you're "friend or foe"...and adjust accordingly...if you've done nothing wrong, WHY NOT?
The software better be right though....the vehicle "black box" will help determine that...
